I know what you’re thinking – what in the world is a post about icebergs doing on a blog about Polynesia???  Have I completely lost my mind?  The fact is, icebergs do occasionally drift from Antarctica to New Zealand, and New Zealand is part of Polynesia.  I know, when you think of “Polynesia” the word “Iceberg” isn’t the first thing that comes to mind – or would ever come to mind.

In any case, hundreds of icebergs are indeed making their way from the cold Antarctic over to southern area of New Zealand, prompting navigation warnings to any ships that may be in the area.  The last time icebergs floated near New Zealand was in 2006.  You can read the full story here.
