Condé Nast Traveler has announced the winners of its 2009 Readers’ Choice Awards. It comes as no surprise that the beautiful Polynesian islands made it onto their lists, especially the popular island of Hawaii.
In the “Top Islands” list, top honors went to Maui while Kauai placed second. Only 11 islands worldwide received a rating of 80 or higher – not surprisingly, 6 were Polynesian.
In the overall “Top 100″ list which includes hotels, resorts and cruise lines, Polynesia also placed strongly, mainly with the Four Seasons Resorts in Hawaii. Polynesian hotels and resorts that made the Top 100 list are:
#3 Blanket Bay Hotel in South Island, New Zealand
#24 Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in Maui, Hawaii
#54 Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka’upulehu in Big Island, Hawaii
#97 (tie) Four Seasons Resort Lana’i, The Lodge at Koele in Lanai, Hawaii
